OVERVIEW

Following the ‘flood of the century’ in 1994, the City identified an area that could be protected from flooding. The staff of HHR led the effort to design a system of flood gates to be used in conjunction with existing road embankment and crossings. We analyzed a previous interior flooding analysis in a Section 205 report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, gathered new geotechnical information, conducted new hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and prepared CLOMR and LOMR documentation which was approved by FEMA. This effort required coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineers, City FPA, GDOT, and FEMA.
